The most hated character in the House of the Dragon, it's safe to say that Ser Criston Cole's death is something that many fans look forward to.
Much of the hostility many people feel for Ser Criston stems from the fact that he repeatedly changed sides, ultimately switching allegiance to Princess Rhaenyra and declaring support for Alicent Hightower. He gained the nickname "kingmaker" for ensuring Aegon succeeded Viserys rather than Rhaenyra.
He has much blood on his hands too. After dispatching Joffrey Monmouth in season 1, episode 5, he killed Lord Beesbury in The Green Council after the elder dared to speak up and question whether Viserys had chosen Aegon as his heir on his deathbed.
And with season 2 of House of the Dragon currently airing, fans are eager to see Ser Criston meet his fate as he does in George R. R. Martin's book, Fire & Blood.
After marching on Harrenhal with a 4,000-man army to reclaim the castle, Ser Criston and his men face supply concerns after the Blacks use a scorched earth strategy. After arguing with Prince Aemond about progressing, the two-part company, with Ser Criston, decides to meet Lord Ormund Hightower and join forces.
But with populations dwindling due to desertion and disease, his troop was ambushed by the Rivermen and Northmen south of the location of the God's Eye.
Criston's attempts to escape the situation are unsuccessful, and he is killed before his head is severed and placed on a spear. It will entertain fans of the show, and viewers may find it a fitting way to end the show if Criston dies the same way as in the book.
We are still determining when season 2 will be over, but we will have to wait a while longer for Ser Criston to get his head on a spike. Season 4 will cover the aftermath of the Battle of the Dragons, so we won't have to wait as long to see that happen.
